US Morgan Silver Dollar

A popular coin among numismatists, Morgan Silver Dollar is a US silver coin minted from 1878 to 1904 and in 1921. Composed of 90% silver, the coin value was 1 USD. Named after its designer, George T. Morgan, the coin features liberty on the obverse side and an eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse. This coin was minted in 5 different mints: Philadelphia (no mint mark), Carson City Nevada (CC), New Orleans (O), Denver (D) and San Francisco (S). One of the unique features of the 1878 Morgan Dollar is that some coins have 8 tail feathers for the eagle and some others have 7 tail feathers. The main reason of this difference is that, the designer changed it to 7 feathers to match other US coins featuring bald eagle with odd number of feathers. This coin was replaced by the Peace dollar in 1921.

The Morgan dollar values changes based on various factors such as condition, the year of mint, circulation, grade of the coin etc. At The Happy Coin, you can be assured to find the best price for the coins.
